Install: Existing Users

For users who are using an existing version of the Hedera Transaction Tool application on their device.

The Transaction Tool Desktop application is supported on Mac OS only. Artifacts are released herearrow-up-right.

🈸 Install Your Application

Download the Latest Version


Install the New Version

  • Locate the downloaded .pkg file (usually in your Downloads folder) and double-click it.

  • Follow the installation prompts:

    • Select Continue.

    • Select Install.

    • Enter your macOS device password when requested, and select Install Software.

    • Select OK if prompted with “Installer would like to access files in your folder”.

  • When installation completes, select Close.

  • Choose Move to Trash when prompted to discard the installer file.

Note: Installing Transaction Tool v2 will not override v1. Both versions can coexist on your system, as they are completely independent applications.

  • Transaction Tool v1 is a Java-based application

  • Transaction Tool v2 is a JavaScript-based application

Each version has its own codebase and repository, so you can continue using both in parallel if needed.


Access the New Application and Verify Version

  • Go to your Applications folder and launch Hedera Transaction Tool.

  • Once the app opens, select Settings from the left sidebar.

  • In the General section, check the App Info to see the version number.

  • Compare this version with the latest listed on the GitHub Releases pagearrow-up-right.

    • If the version numbers match, your installation is up to date.

    • If not, download and install the latest version using Step 1.


🔁 Migrate Your Data

Once the new application is installed, complete the migration process:

Launch the Application

  • Select the new Transaction Tool from your Dock or Applications folder.


Migrate Data:

  • A pop-up will appear asking if you'd like to migrate your data.

  • Select Yes to continue.


Enter Your Recovery Phrase Password

  • Enter your 24-word recovery phrase password and select Continue.

Hint: This is the same password used to sign transactions in the old app.


Select Encryption Mode:

  • Choose Continue with Keychain.

  • Enter your macOS device password if prompted.


Enter Organization Details:

  • Organization Nickname: Enter the name of your organization.

  • Organization URL: Enter the URL for your organization provided by your organization admin.

  • Organization Email: Enter your email address associated with your organization.

  • Temporary Organization Password: Enter the temporary password sent to your email.

  • New Organization Password: Enter a new password (minimum 10 characters).


Share Public Keys

  • Select the key(s) you would like to share the public key of with your organization.

    • The public key will be associated with your user, allowing the application to identify which users are required to sign a given transaction.

    • Ensure you select the key(s) you have previously used to sign transactions with.

  • If you have more than one key, select the keys you would like to import into the new application.

Decrypt a Key (If Prompted)

  • Enter the password associated with any previous private key when prompted.

  • Select Decrypt to continue.


Review and Finish

  • You will be taken to a Summary Page. Review the details.

  • Select Finish to complete the setup.


You should now be in your Organization View. To confirm that your organization was added successfully:

  • Select the dropdown in the top navigation bar.

  • Your organization name should appear in the list.
