Software Updates

Overview

This guide explains how to update the Transaction Tool application to the latest version.

Note: The Transaction Tool Desktop application is supported on Mac OS only.

Update Methods

GitHub

To update the Transaction Tool from GitHub:

• Go to the project releases.

• Select the version you want to upgrade to.

• Download the .pkg file that supports your Mac.

• Open the Transaction Tool application.

• Verify the application was updated by navigating to Settings > General > App Info and checking the version number.

Installing for the first time?

• New users: See Install: New Users

• Existing users: See Install: Existing Users

Deployed to You by Your Organization Admin

For Admins

• The application automatically looks for new versions in the configured Update Location (default: OneDrive > Transaction Tools > InputFiles)

• To customize the update location, navigate to Settings > General > Update Location

• Upload the new .pkg version to the configured Update Location folder

• Users will see a pop-up notification prompting them to install the update

For Users

• A pop-up notification will appear when a new version is available (if you were on a previous version that supported OneDrive).

• Follow the prompts to install the update.

• Alternatively, follow the instructions for software updates provided by your Organization Admin.

Configure Default Location

After upgrading from Transaction Tool v1 to Transaction Tool v2, verify the default location for your transaction files is configured correctly.

Verify Your Default Location

• Open Transaction Tool v2.

• Navigate to Settings > General.

• Check if the Update Location field is populated.

If the Update Location field is blank, follow the steps below.

Copy the Path from Transaction Tool v1

• Open Transaction Tool v1.

• Navigate to Settings.

• Under Transactions and Files Folders, locate Input Paths.

• Copy the full path displayed in the Input Paths field.

Example:

/Users/yourname/Documents/TransactionTools

Your Transaction Tool v2 application is now configured with the correct file location.
